I had never heard of Francesca Battistelli before I saw her here on the Amazon.com best seller list (in the top 100) for Christian music. I really enjoyed this CD. I’m torn for my favorite track between I’m Letting Go and Behind the Scenes.

I’m Letting Go deals with the issue of letting go of what I thought my life would or should be and accepting the true purpose for my life. It’s not about giving up on dreams, but about getting hold on the positive dreams and eternal vision that God has for us.

Behind the Scenes tells the truth of our frailty. Similar in message to Casting Crowns’ song titled Stained Glass Masquerade, this song reminds everyone that everyone is liek everyone else. There are no perfect saints. Our strength to overcome comes from our unity with one another.

The other tracks are also very uplifting. I find myself looping through the entire track list. Certainly, there are a few songs that may appeal to personalities different than my own, such as the title song My Paper Heart, but even it reminds us that the ripping experiences of life can show us the way to God regardless of our personality.

Great for a debut album.

I knew I was getting a bargain [price] when I purchased this CD, but I’m happy to say both musically and technically, it’s knocked my socks off! The warmth and vigor with which the London Symphony Orchestra (no slouchy establishment, needless to say) interprets and delivers Elgar’s lush compositions is remarkable. What impressed me most, however, is the quality of the recording itself. The stereo separation of the instruments simulates sitting on the front row of an orchestra hall nearly perfectly, and the sound is crisp and clear. Priced under [small amt], this was a welcome suprise and bonus!

If you have yet to experience Sir Edward Elgar’s works and you enjoy orchestral music, please do yourself a favor and purchase this album. You’ll be rewarded with Elgar’s charming, passionate creations. His variations are at times both robust and delicate, powerful and tender, witty and affectionate, as each variation is crafted after and named for one of Elgar’s acquaintences, including his wife.

The liner notes sum up this album’s work nicely by quoting critic Neville Cardus: “I feel that Elgar’s music is usually either opening something or closing something institutional… we have in Elgar the laureate rather than the poet.” And you couldn’t have a better introduction to “the laureate” than through this collection.

P.S. Did I mention the Pomp & Circumstance Marches? Truly impressive. The “one” we all know is but a small portion of March #1. It is one of the most recognizable themes in the world of music. I couldn’t help but hear in the back of my mind, “But wait! There’s more!” And they’re all worth hearing!

Love love love this program…It is exactly what I needed. It is so difficult to concentrate on proper running form and breathing when you’re trying to time everything. This program takes care of all of that and let’s you concentrate on the dynamics. I am finishing up the 4 weeks to 1 mile and am definitely going on to the next one.

Straight No Chaser is an acapella group from Indiana University. This 10 man group was founded in 1996. Their video clip of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” posted by a group alum, became a YouTube phenomena in 2007. It was the best.

Christmas Cheer is the second Christmas collection. The 21 songs in this CD are a mix of straight and fun. The subdued ‘Holy Night’, ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ and Christmas Time Is Here. The CD gets off to a rollicking start with ‘Christmas Can-Can’” a hot ‘We Three Kings’, a brilliant parody of ‘Donde Esta Santa Claus’, a wonderful ‘Hey, Santa’, a sleazy ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’, a priceless Elvis lead on ‘Santa Claus is Back in Town’, a crazy ‘Jingle Bells’, a drunken ‘Who Spiked the Eggnog’. And, this all leads into the song that started it all. ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’. Each song has unexpected surprises. The arrangements are entertaining. And the CD has 5 extras, not necessarily Christmas songs but fun never the less. Amy Winehouse’s ‘Rehab’ was never sung better. Jack Johnson’s rollicking ‘I’m Yours’ and ‘Over the Rainbow’. To the divine ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You’. This is a Christmas CD for everyone, the young will love the fun songs and the traditional songs are there for everyone. A Capella brings tone and a myriad of sounds to music- this grou[ of ten men has set the music world on its ear, let's listen!

This CD demonstrates the group's talents and skills and marvelous voices. They blend and meander and finally come in to their own. CHEERS!
