HE SURVIVAL OF THOMAS FORD
Thomas Ford is the only survivor of the car crash which killed his wife. He is also the only witness who would be willing to identify the young, reckless driver who caused the crash. But the driver has no intention of ever letting himself be identified, not to mention what his father’s intentions are…or those of his girlfriend, Lorna, the hospital cleaner.
The young driver’s father is Jack McCallum, the powerful entrepreneur who has built a housing empire, McCallum Homes, on the high hills surrounding the city. Jack has his own dark secret to protect, as well as his business edifice to hold onto. There is no way in the world that Jack McCallum will ever let anything threaten the future of McCallum Homes.
Robert Ferguson, the passenger who was with the young driver on the day of the crash, curses himself for ever getting into the car. He watches carefully to see what the universe will do about it all, and he thinks he can hear the gears and chambers of the universe’s engine, rolling terribly towards them, out of the future, and he knows he can’t cope with that, not even if he takes his medication.
In the end, destiny will pull them all far out of the city, some of them to the moonlit hillside, where white butterflies and mysterious gas fill the air, and wild cats wrap themselves around cold trees. Jack McCallum’s trusted Polish foreman, Lanski, will recognise the place from the folklore-wilderness of his own childhood, a place where death can come stalking in the form of a white wolf, but perhaps also redemption can appear, for those like Thomas Ford who seek it.
In any case, the young driver has it in mind to take his destiny into his own hands now, which will soon lead to the life of a second young woman hanging in the balance, awaiting salvation or destruction, perhaps only the Fates, or the wind that blows through the trees, know which.

Man’s interest in character is founded on an intensely practical need. In whatsoever relationship we deal with our fellows, we base our intercourse largely on our understanding of their characters. . . . Because the feelings are in part mirrored on the face and body, the experience of mankind has become crystallized in beliefs, opinions, and systems of character reading which are based on physiognomy, shape of head, lines of hand, gait, and even the method of dress and the handwriting. . . . A few of the methods used have become organized into specialties, such as the study of the head. -Introduction, The Foundations of Personality

e aware, this is not the Peter Pan story you want your kids reading, it is clearly intended for adult readers. Yet it appeals to the childlike part of us that loved the classic original stories. Combine that childlike love with modern politics and technology, and you get this smart, snarky, hilarious mystery. The story is richly developed and leaves you guessing until the very end. I am liking this grown up version of Peter Pan even more than the original.
For obvious reasons, I LOVE me a loose riff on a fairy tale, and I loved this one! Wendy and the Lost Boys was a grown up and gritty version of the classic Peter Pan and Wendy. Thrills and laughs aplenty here, with a story thats barrels towards a fantastic and totally unexpected ‘The End.’ Well done!
-Elle Lothlorien, bestselling author of Sleeping Beauty (A Romantic Comedy/Suspense), The Frog Prince (A Romantic Comedy), and Virgin (A Thriller)
When a deathbed promise to a friend leaves Wendy Darlin, feisty Miami real estate broker for billionaires, trapped on a super-yacht with Ponzi-king, Charlie Hook, she’s forced to join him on a quest to recover his hidden treasure. Along for the danger-filled adventure are an undercover SEC Investigator, who kindles a spark in Wendy with his ‘Johnny Depp’ eyes and Hook’s young female helicopter pilot who befriends Wendy as they sail the high seas, one step ahead of modern day ruthless pirates.
A laugh out loud whodunit… kidnapping, revenge, and a little murder on the side. The second book in the Fractured Fairy Tales by Silkstone series of criminally funny fables, this comedy mystery is set in Miami and the Caribbean.

The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland, Age 42 and Three-Quarters
Wendy and the Lost Boys
London Broil
Zo White and the Seven Morphs
Wendy and the Lost Boys topped the charts in comedy, climbing over Tina Fey, Sophie Kinsella, and Ellen DeGeneres. The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland, Age 42 and Three-Quarters has been a consistent best seller in comedy. Both Wendy and Alice have been in the top 20 Amazon comedies at the same time.
Praise for Wendy and the Lost Boys ~
This book is a great laugh, and is a great grown up and gritty version of a childhood classic. There are so many twists and turns it that sometimes I had to stop and let it sink in. I found that I was beginning to imagine it on screen, but as a cartoon – the characters are so off beat, I couldn’t imagine real people actually playing them – I just don’t think they could replicate the feel of it. I’m looking forward to reading the surprise sequel that Silkstone has said she is working on at the moment In the meantime though, I want to go back and read The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland – if it is anything like Wendy, it is sure to be a fascinating and entertaining read! ~ Girls Who Love to Read
This is a modern morality tale that takes the reader on an action-filled ride with memorable characters and lots of laughs along the way. It’s Indiana Jones meets Romancing the Stone while still remaining faithful to the original Peter Pan and Wendy.
~ Consuelo Saah Baehr, Bestselling author of Daughters
About the author:
Barbara Silkstone is the best-selling author of The Secret Diary of Alice in Wonderland, Age 42 and Three-Quarters ~ Wendy and the Lost Boys ~ London Broil ~ Zo White and the Seven Morphs ~ The Adventures of a Love Investigator, 527 Naked Men and One Woman.
Silkstone’s writing has been described as “perfectly paced and pitched – shades of Janet Evanovich and Carl Hiaasen without seeming remotely derivative. Fast moving action that shoots from the hip with bullet-proof characterization.”
This book contains a bonus excerpt from London Broil– the sequel to Wendy and the Lost Boys.

ELCOME TO SCUD CITY — THE WORST TOWN IN AMERICA
Scud is the kind of cesspool that’s heaven if you want good drugs, dirty sex, and a nightly brush with death, and hell if you want anything else. And of all the decaying brothels and meth-spas in the city of dead dreams, One-Night Stan’s is the last place any distinguished human would set foot, the kind of sleazy strip club where the floors are linoleum, the air is cigarette smoke, and the night isn’t over till somebody’s a corpse.
Over the course of one excruciatingly long night, two college students stumble across an orange duffel bag stuffed with hundred-dollar bills and they find themselves the target of a coke-fueled night club owner, a vicious nymphomaniac stripper who gets her jollies slicing extremities off others with a butterfly knife, and a Russian bouncer who once ripped a man in half “the long way.” As their wild night goes progressively off the rails, their paths cross with an unprofessional and strangely hostile FBI agent who has arrived in town on the trail of a serial killer–a serial killer who has been carving up dancers on a cross country tour of seedy strip joints, but who may have just stumbled into the wrong club.
MEET THE LOCALS
Jeremy: The kind of futureless twenty-something who spends three nights a week at nudie bar hating the present and crossing his fingers he’ll end up in a new city one day, he doesn’t exactly have the judgment necessary to steal $250,000 in blood money.
One-Night Stan: Stan just wants to be Frank Sinatra, but he never will be. He’s a classless night club owner with anger issues and one hell of a coke problem who will never reach the level of coolness to which he aspires.
Ginger: This whackjob probably stepped out of a propaganda horror film warning teens about sex. An employee of Stan’s, she’s a seductress who can only get her rocks off inflicting pain on men, and she hasn’t been satisfied in weeks.
Caleb: The best and worst friend a college kid could ask for. When a group of sex-crazed gymnasts want you to come with them to sacrifice a dog to Satan, he’s the friend who threatens to physically harm you if you say no.
Leonard: A city like Scud demands an owner like Leonard, a handsome scumbag with his hand in the pockets of every politician, gangster, and law enforcement official in a ten mile radius.
Russian Bob: It takes an expat from Russia to work as a bouncer at One-Night Stan’s. One of the local legends about Russian Bob is he once killed a cop with a stapler for stepping on his foot.
And More — Between a quietly depressed stalker-nerd, a woman whose not above screwing and killing strangers for quick buck, and a jaded serial killer with an unlikely day job, there’s no shortage of characters to be met in Scud City.
