et me just say that this is a wonderful CD. It is not perfect, but is an excellent example of easy listening, classic country music. After a run-through the seasoned country fan will see the differences in how Josh Turner does not follow strictly some of the more pop-oriented country that is beginning to take over the CMAs.
Josh stays true to his roots and this selection of songs puts you in your imaginary seat at the Grand ol’ Opry. Simple, clean, not much overproduction, just a good solid country album with quality singing throughout from the Josh T. we have come to expect.
My only qualms with the CD is that it probably overemphasizes the one on one relationship between man and woman a bit too much and Josh doesn’t deliver his “long black train” baritone with enough regularity. Would prefer an album with a larger variety of subject material.
Nevertheless, the songs are quite good and very country–in a good way! Well worth the purchase and fully deserving of 5 stars. A great introduction into the country genre for new fans, or a mainstay for those already fans.
