rom New York Times bestselling author James Rollins comes a novel of boundless imagination and meticulous research, a book that dares to answer a frightening question at the heart of America: Could the founding of the United States be based on a fundamental lie? The shocking truth lies hidden within the ruins of an impossibility, a lost colony of the Americas vanished in time and cursed into oblivion. A place known only as The Devil Colony.
Deep in the Rocky Mountains, a gruesome discovery–hundreds of mummified bodies–stirs international attention and fervent controversy. Despite doubts about the bodies’ origins, the local Native American Heritage Commission lays claim to the prehistoric remains, along with the strange artifacts found in the same cavern: gold plates inscribed with an unfathomable script.
During a riot at the dig site, an anthropologist dies horribly, burned to ashes in a fiery explosion in plain view of television cameras. All evidence points to a radical group of Native Americans, including one agitator, a teenage firebrand who escapes with a vital clue to the murder and calls on the one person who might help–her uncle, Painter Crowe, Director of Sigma Force.
To protect his niece and uncover the truth, Painter will ignite a war among the nation’s most powerful intelligence agencies. Yet an even greater threat looms as events in the Rocky Mountains have set in motion a frightening chain reaction, a geological meltdown that threatens the entire western half of the U.S.
From the volcanic peaks of Iceland to the blistering deserts of the American Southwest, from the gold vaults of Fort Knox to the bubbling geysers of Yellowstone, Painter Crowe joins forces with Commander Gray Pierce to penetrate the shadowy heart of a dark cabal, one that has been manipulating American history since the founding of the thirteen colonies.
But can Painter discover the truth–one that could topple governments–before it destroys all he holds dear?

eminiscent of Christopher Moore’s ‘Fluke’ and Neil Gaiman’s ‘American Gods,’ this slightly fantastical tale is told from the perspective of ever reluctant Orange Whippey, the story of his involvement in the comically unnecessary Whale Network unfolds as rival whaling factions, Korean smugglers/ultra tourists/storytellers, and a privacy advocating talking head all do their best to keep him from doing what he would ultimately prefer to do: Nothing. Set on the tiny, fictional island of Bismuth, it moves at a languid pace as Orange is dragged, far too often, to writhing lagoons, rusted ship hulks, hellish saunas, and private islands, creating a subtly farcical, always absurd setting for numerous misadventures

The House Rules [Explicit] by Christian Kane
Genre(s): Country
From an Amazon Top Reviewer:
efore Christian Kane I had never listened to country music, save a stray song here and there from various artists like Garth Brooks back in the day or Darius Rucker over the last year or two. Then I found the show Leverage, and Kane, found out he was a singer and listened to his music, instantly becoming a fan.
This album, which I pre-ordered through another site for a deluxe edition, is the very first Country music purchase that I’ve ever made, and shockingly I’m about to say that I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.
When I first started listening to this, I had only heard five of the songs, all five having been released over the summer as an EP by Kane. Those songs (House Rules, Whiskey in Mind, Let Me Go, Making Circles and American Made) were all outstanding, and Making Circles, a beautiful song detailing a failing relationship in which both parties are self destructing remains my favorite of his.
Here you get 11 tracks which include those previously mentioned five, along with 6 new songs (including “Thinking of You” which was featured on an episode of Leverage and was sung by Kane and actor/musician John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard’s Bo Duke).
I don’t really see any weak spots here at all. As a non-Country fan, they’re not all my cup of tea, but none make me regret my purchase. As with virtually any album you buy some songs are stronger than others. Some will resonate more powerfully with you than others.
STANDOUT TRACKS: Thinking of You, Making Circles, House Rules, Let Me Go, Seven Days, Fast Car
I highly recommend you get this album, and if you’re not sure about jumping into a country album, but are a fan of Kane, I would suggest you get his EP which he released last summer. It is reasonably priced, has five great songs on there and that way you can dip your toes into the country genre pool before jumping in with the full priced album.
If I can enjoy this, as someone who typically recoils from all forms of Country music, then everyone should be able to appreciate it!
