“There was a numbness in these old scars that meant her skin had lost its sense of touch (wasn’t that the point?), but it hurt her inside, in her tummy it seemed, and only on really bad days would she deliberately open old sores. But most days, and this was one of those days, just a little nick of a reminder would do.”
The price we pay for the life we make.
“Exceptionally well-written.” (Martina Devlin, Irish Daily Star)
Dancing to the End of Love
A love story for the times we live in.
“I live in Pisa with Maria. She’s the reason that I’m here. Maria Gabriela Carbone – an Italian Scot, or a Scottish Italian, depending on her moods, which are many and extreme. Carrier of a gene that will kill her sooner rather than later, so we forgive the mood swings. We forgive her because she is what she is – everything to me and everything that I’m not. No doubt she’d tell me that she’s not mine to forgive and I’d agree, but forgive her anyway.”
A man is arrested and held without trial as part of the War on Terror. A woman pays out a fortune to persuade the father of her child not to contest his parental rights. An Italian girl with Cystic Fibrosis cuts herself off from her family and yet fears she’ll die alone.
Many lives; one true love.
“Kafka-liscious!”

oetry direct from the soul to the page
Tea & Sprockets is a contemporary poetry collection by modern American poet D.L. Lang. This 150 page single author anthology spans 15 years of work encompassing poems from 1995 to 2010. Across the 106 selected poems, Lang weaves together themes of love and friendship, death and loss, war and peace.
About the author
Aside from being a prolific 20th century poet, Lang is best known for her films The Hebrew Project and Liquid Wind and her singles Last Chance Disaster and Wilderness as Tranquoizier. She lives in Marin County, California with her husband, where they enjoy copious amounts of Judaism, nature, and indie music. Lang also has a great fondness for penguins, studying history, and unlocking genealogical discoveries.
In her own words
It was always a dream of mine to publish a poetry book. I’ve been writing poetry since I was 11 years old. The two oldest poems in this book are Surf Clown and The Outsider. It’s so awesome to be able to share my work with you, so please enjoy the journey! To me, poetry is a coping mechanism, spiritual journey, humorous observation, and linguistic exploration, but what it truly is: my soul on a page. The mystery of poetry is that the reader never truly knows what the writer was thinking, so it takes on a meaning of its own to each person who reads it and relates, or not, to it. I am an avid tea drinker. If you drink a cup of hot tea, you are forced to slow down and appreciate the tea. It is almost a meditative process. Poetry can have a similar contemplative quality about it. But then there’s the sprockets: the every day routine where your mind is constantly churning and the world is constantly turning. You can read poetry in this way as well translated into music or film there is a speedy quality. When I write sometimes the poetry is a direct flowing of my soul so fast that my pen cannot keep up: that is the sprockets. Other times, this is the result of meditation on a theme or word–there’s your tea. The spiritual and the mundane are life’s tea and sprockets.

etters to Bert is a loving tribute to one of the best friends I’ve ever had, my dog Bert. After he died unexpectedly, it was difficult for me to move beyond that tragic day. In an attempt to heal, I began a diary of all the wonderful memories he and I enjoyed together, which eventually became Letters to Bert. I’m honored to share my stories with you. May they bring you comfort and laughter as well as gratitude for all the good times (and a few not so good) you’ve been fortunate enough to experience with your own four-legged hero.

Picked up a few good ones today. Thanks for all the choices.
You’re welcome! Glad you’re enjoying them!
