DESCRIPTION:
This book is NOT about building a wildly successful business in a traditional sense. And it’s certainly NOT about “How I made millions, and you can too.”
This book was written for those that want to unlock their highest potential. To make his point, the author, Gene Hammett, shares the hidden message that he found in losing millions on one day. That “message” is exactly what he failed to understand in his climb to traditional success. This book gives you the heartbreaking story of losing it all and rebuilding back his life with the courage to create significance.
Have you ever been so comfortable in a situation that you stop growing? Have you ever reached your goals for success–the money, the prestige, the stuff–yet felt unfulfilled in your work and your life? That’s the trap of conventional, incremental success.
The Trap of Success takes you beyond that comfort zone so you can start your journey to significance and exponential success. This book is for visionary leaders–and those who want to be–who feel the thirst to achieve breakthroughs within themselves and in their impact on the world. It will help you grow to be the person you know you can be.
Discover the stories of real people who have faced moments of choice that caused them to dig deep, find their courage, and create a life and career of meaning. And learn how significance and exponential success dance together once you get past the limited thinking that got you this far–once you escape your own trap of success.
Here is what some early readers have said about this book:
“Probably the single most important lesson I have ever learned in my life was how to get outside of my “Comfort Zone.” I only wish that Gene had written his book when I was struggling so much. You have the opportunity to Avoid the Success Trap by reading this book. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”
— Howard Behar, President Starbucks, retired
“A friend once told me that success traps are harder to get out of than failure traps. This is brilliantly illustrated in Gene Hammett’s raw and authentic book. Be careful: this might just change your life!”
— Greg McKeown, New York Times Bestselling Author of Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less
“What a fascinating story! Gene Hammett’s journey is inspiring to us all. He shares the common enemies that we must overcome to keep growing.”
— Dee Ann Turner, VP of Enterprise Social Responsibility of Chick-fil-a
and Best Selling Author of It’s My Pleasure
“As Gene Hammett shows in this terrific book, we must have the courage to break from what we have always done to create more impact in this world. Stop waiting and start doing.”

“Gene Hammett works from the depths of his heart, from a place of openness with the facts instead of his hopes, and with a massive body of knowledge gathered from his experiences and the countless interviews he’s conducted with leaders. What you get with The Trap of Success is a great tool for getting yourself out of your own traps and back on the path to what matters most.”
— Chris Brogan, New York Times Bestselling Author of The Freaks Shall Inherit
the Earth

Dying for freedom isn’t the worst that could happen. Being forgotten is.
— “You flew with what I would call ‘controlled fear’. You were scared stiff, but it was controlled. My ball turret gunner–he couldn’t take it anymore… I guess he was right. He’s dead now. But he had lost control of the fear. He never got out of that ball turret; he died in that ball turret.” –B-24 bombardier
How soon we forget. Or perhaps, we were never told. That is understandable, given what they saw.
— “I spent a lot of time in hospitals. I had a lot of trouble reconciling how my mother died [of a cerebral hemorrhage] from the telegram she opened, saying I was [shot down and] “missing in action”. I didn’t explain to her the fact that ‘missing in action’ is not necessarily ‘killed in action’. You know? I didn’t even think about that. How do you think you feel when you find out you killed your mother?” –B-24 bombardier
At the height of World War II, LOOK Magazine profiled a small upstate New York community for a series of articles portraying it as the wholesome, patriotic model of life on the home front. Seventy years later, a history teacher tracks down the veterans with a connection to “Hometown, USA” who fought the war in the air over Europe, men who were tempered in the tough times of the Great Depression and forged in battle. He rescues and resurrects firsthand accounts of combat and brotherhood, of captivity and redemption, and the aftermath of a war that left no American community unscathed.
Here are the stories that the magazine could not tell, from a vanishing generation speaking to America today.

DESCRIPTION:
It appears I have undoubtedly been mysteriously transported to a young child’s bedroom, her name is Caitlin and she is of course very fond of my poetry. However despite this unusual occurrence I miss my homelands, dreadfully. This dry and scorching hot city, that she calls Sydney is beyond any distance I can comprehend, but I have always been a traveler, so I am contempt with the path I have stumbled upon. Her mother has faded into the shadow, so I must guide her, keep her safe and share a glass or two of good wine. It is rather odd that her father behaves like I don’t exist, it is at the very least disrespectful, doesn’t he know who I am? Why I am none other than the world’s greatest poet to have ever lived, Li Bai and my words have been etched in history and sang throughout the ages with the guzzling of wine. Yes indeed, I have informed and educated the girl on the most important pleasures of the world, to drink wine whenever one desires to, though she is still a youngling, it is rather amusing to watch her chant my poems in a drunken stupor. Together we will drink and recite my old rhymes and perhaps not long after I will figure out how to get home.
