Humanity opted for a societal existence as part of our evolutionary defence against Nature. And yet, although we have so far thrived as a species, this choice exposes us to some substantial existential threats. Most significantly, the creation of a new “Living Environment” and the loss of our Genetic Priority – doing what is in the best interests of our genes – means that genetic progress cannot be assured.
