Work-Life Balance Is Bullshit
Everyone sells you the same lie: balance your time, balance your priorities, keep work and life in two separate boxes and manage the scale between them. Adam Dellos calls it what it is. A con.He watched his father work himself into the ground, present for six rugby games in fourteen years, and swore he’d build something different. Instead, at twenty years old, with five hundred dollars and a garage, he built a business… and built himself a cage.
Twelve employees. Real money. A version of himself that answered his phone seven days a week and couldn’t remember his last real vacation. This book is the honest, occasionally profane conversation Adam wishes someone had had with him a decade earlier. Not another framework promising five easy steps.
A direct challenge to the whole premise that you’re two people, a professional self and a personal self, taking turns and competing for the same 24 hours. You are one person. One life. And the sooner you stop managing it like a split screen, the sooner you stop feeling like you’re failing at both halves.Across eleven chapters, Adam walks through the moments that actually changed him: the blind spots he didn’t know he had, the patterns he kept explaining away, the people who refused to let him stay small, a 13,000-mile road trip that became a real answer to who he was outside his business, and the day he sold that business and had to figure out who he was without it. He hands you the ACTION framework (Awareness, Choice, Transform, Integration, Own, Now), a way of moving from stuck to living that doesn’t depend on your circumstances changing first. If you’re driven, capable, and standing in the middle of everything you built wondering why it still feels like a cage, this book is for you.
You are not broken. You are not failing. You built the bars yourself, which means you can open the door yourself, too.Work-Life Balance Is Bullshit is for entrepreneurs, founders, and high achievers who are done managing two lives and ready to build one worth living.
